BREAKING: Splinter group removes Malong as leader of South Sudan United Front

October 8th 2018 (Nyamilepedia) – A splinter group of the South Sudan United Front/Army (SSUF/A) led by former SPLA Chief of General Staff Gen. Paul Malong Awan has removed the later as teh Chairman and Commader in Chief of the rebel group.

The South Sudan United Front is a rebel movement fromed early this year by former SPLA chief Paul Malong Awan, a long time ally of President Salva Kiir Mayardiit who has been the army Chief since 2014.

In a statement extended to the Nyamilepedia on Saturday, a group that claim to be composed of senior members of the South Sudan United Front said they have removed Gen. Paul Malong as the leader of the South Sudan United Front and appointed William Ezekiel as the interim Chairman and Commander in Chief of the group.

“Following an intense consultations within the South Sudan United Front/Army (SSUF/A) on the October 2nd, 2018, the office of the SSUF/A in Sudan is here by removing Gen. Paul Malong Awan from the leadership of the South Sudan united front,” the statement dismissing Malong extended to the Nyamilepedia partly read.

The same statement further infromed the forces that are loyal to the South Sudan united Front to take note of the dismissal and to cut all communication with the former army chief turned rebel leader.

“This is to inform all the forces of the South Sudan United Front/Army (SSUF/A) that Malong has been removed as the Chairnman and Commander in Chief of the SSUF/A,” the statement further read.

The Nyamilepedia was unable to contact the office of General Paul Malong for comments.
