June 12th 2018 (Nyamilepedia) – Troops loyal to the South Sudanese government under the leadership of President Salva Kiir Mayardiit has been accused of killing four church worshipers in Yei River State’s Kajo-Keji county on Saturday reportedly after the army rounded them up before kidnapping them to where the victims met their fate.
In a statement extended to the Nyamilepedia on Tuesday, the spokesman for the SPLM-IO governor of Yei River state, Wayi Godwill Edward, said the victims, two men and two women, were kidnapped at 10:00 am on Saturday by government troops and took them to a undisclosed location where they were reportedly killed at 4:00 pm.
“The regime’s barbaric forces rounded up church worshipers at Moijo village, Limi Boma in Kajo-Keji County at around 10 AM on Saturday, 9th June 2018. They kidnapped two men and two women from the church. They ill-treated and brutally killed them at about 4PM,” the statement said in part.
Godwill said civilians in all parts of Yei River state still face brutalities committed by troops loyal to the government of Salva Kiir Mayardiit.
“Civilians in all parts of Yei River State continue to experience the darkest moments in life as the regime in Juba perpetrates heinous crimes against the civilian population,” he said.
He urged the CTSAMM and UNMISS to investigate the crimes and ensure that perpetrators are held accountable pointing out that the Cessation of Hostilities Agreement signed last December primarily mandates all parties to the ongoing conflict to ensure civilians’ safety and security of their lives and property regardless of where they would be. Unfortunately, the “irresponsible and genocidal” regime keep on killing innocent souls in our country with impunity.
