Statement On The Resumption Of The Peace Negotiation By The Government And SPLM-IO Faction In Addis Ababa, Ethiopia

SSAK01Feb 21, 2015(Nyamilepedia) — Members of the press; South Sudanese all over the world; friends of South Sudan; Members of international community; South Sudanese communities in Kenya; ladies and gentlemen; good morning?

First and foremost, we the members of South Sudan students association in Kenya (SSSAK) wish to register our delight for the resumption of the peace negotiation between the government of the republic of south Sudan and the Sudan’s people liberation movement in opposition faction [SPLM-IO].

As we are all aware, the violence has taken a year since it erupted in juba that has inflicted pain and damages on not only the South Sudanese but also across the regions. However, we would like to urge our leaders to expedite the peace process in order to alleviate human suffering and embark on the reconciliation process of uniting South Sudanese once again.

We therefore urge our leaders to address the matters of concern to South Sudanese and chant their personal differences and put the interest of South Sudanese above theirs.

Nevertheless, we are optimistic that if this peace agreement reached and sign today then it will charts the formation of the transitional government of national unity that will serve to unite the people of south Sudan and shape the new political and social dispensation for peace among the people of south Sudan.

Furthermore, It is also our belief that this government will initiate the much-needed reforms in our country and thus heal our wounded and embittered society. Specifically, we urge the two leaders and their supporters to bury their differences and work together for the sake of a peaceful South Sudan.

We also urge our leaders to emphasis on bringing final peace to South Sudanese because millions are suffering as a result of on going conflict and therefore, we urge them to priorities in signing peace agreement and not adjourn it again.

More importantly, we argue our fellow South Sudanese to avoid those divisive utterances on the social media flat forms and work together as one people one south Sudanese. Thus, our South Sudanese should know that it was not their choice to be born in the Republic of South Sudan but God’s creation and thus appreciate, embrace and live together as one people in their motherland. Subsequently, we encourage South Sudanese wherever they are to preach peace and demand their leaders to do same, as it’s the only way to build a prosperous society.

We would also like to commend the Intergovernmental Authority on Development (IGAD) and the IGAD Special Envoys for their steadfast commitment to the peace process. We recall IGAD’s determination, as articulated in its summit communiqué of January 31, 2014, inclusive negotiations toward an agreement that addresses necessary reforms.

We also like to appreciate our council of ministers for considering the call for postponement of the national election until later date as an encouragement of the on going negotiation in Addis-Ababa.

We also register our appreciations with the troika members that is, the United States, the United Kingdom
and Norway for their continues support throughout the peace negotiations in Addis Ababa.

Finally, we thank his Excellency the President of Kenya, Uhuru Mugai Kenyatta and other African leaders
for thier continues support in the peace process. Going forward we hope to continue this good diplomatic
relations in the future.

May God bless the people of the Republic of South Sudan, the people of Kenya and the people of Africa?

Thank you.

It sound workable if both warring parties leaders may leave their own interests which have had created this mess and works togetherness to make sure the peace agreement is achievable. It actually make sense to me and I guess anyone when the South Sudan’s government has finally postponed the general election just to give peace chance and that sign has been perceived as a good moved by the government and we hopes God will bring peace among Southern Sudanese.

Please keep singing about Addis Ababa peace agreement but I am always doubting the city of Ethiopia nation that, has a predictable many peaces agreements failures all the time seemingly to be the bad luck in my view and supposedly, the finally round one should have been held in Kenya or Tanzania country unfortunately, they kept returning it back Addis in Ethiopia and I don’t real know why they don’t learn from the past peaces agreements failed. Hopefully, there is a good commitment from the South Sudan’s government side, if it failed again then, the Churches people, communities leaders a cross nation and the government Officials are going to calls rebels leader to come to Juba without fear for arrest this is a strong signal from South Sudan’s government unless the rebels leader Dr. Riek Machar Teny is not serious but in Juba people are saying. let us resolving our own problems now because the IGAD and the AU leaders are playing game there.
