July 06, 2022 — On 3rd May, 2022, the Liech community Association in Kenya formerly Unity State community held a General Assembly meeting where the Article of election was changed and replaced with nomination through rotation. This therefore means that members of the Liech Community Executive Board shall be nominated from our seven administrative counties of Unity State.

The list of the nominated persons remained in place as per the opinion or advice of the elder/s. But should there be any slight change chiefly on the selection criteria, it then will be made public at a later date.

In this regard, we hereby proposed this 30th day of July, 2022 as the date of our Leadership Handing-over. This day falls on a weekend. Thus, we think it will be convenient for the vast majority of our members in Nairobi. Before the above mentioned date approaches, the venue and time will be communicated in advance. Between now and then, any pending or unresolved issue on the same will be attended to and addressed to its logical conclusion.

In the meantime, we will mobilize resources by reaching out to our members and friends of Liech community Association in Kenya, to help us in conducting this important function that is expected to be attended by all and sundry.

Also, this public statement serves as a reminder, to the chairpersons of Koch and Panyijiar counties, to bring the names of the individual Executive Board members that they were told to submit in the previous general assembly meeting in Nairobi City County.

Finally and most importantly, let’s refrain from participating directly or indirectly in the ongoing Kenyan elections campaign, for it is not permissible for foreigners to interfere in the affairs of the host country, mainly emotive matters.

More often than not, matters elections and politics are the preserve of the local citizens. However, what is always expected of us is, to keep praying for them, that they may have peace and harmony before, during and after elections slated for 9th August, 2022.

The peace for Kenya is peace for all of us because Kenya is our home, and home is not necessarily where you’re born but where you live. If possible our slogan should be: Let’s watch and learn.

Yours faithfully,

Dak Buoth Riek-Gaak,

Chairman, Liech community Association in Kenya
