From Good to Ugly: US Foreign Policy on South Sudan Deteriorates with Time. (1-2)

Quote: “we are not anybody’s burden; we are masters in our own house, we are confident in ourselves and of the future. There are those who might entertain the false belief that we can’t gov’t ourselves, we should not and cannot let their thought pattern influence us” says late Dr. John Garang.

Kerry talking some sense into Kiir
US Secretary of State, John Kerry meeting an incumbent of South Sudan, President Salva Kiir in Juba in 2014(Photo: file)

April 29, 2015(Nyamilepedia) — South Sudan, the country which had lost more than a million lives was created to be an independent country with determination that we” south Sudanese” can govern ourselves and determine our destiny alone without interference from any country who had supported us or “midwifed” us as the US claim, but out of the blue, some countries begin to undermine South Sudan with their diplomacy of imperialism.

The US foreign policy on south Sudan during the presidency of George Bush was so fascinating. President Bush was open and attentive to address South Sudan issues unlike Barrack Hussein Obama who is becoming apparently ambivalence with neo-imperialism foreign policy on south Sudan.

When the CPA was signed that lead to the formation of the government of southern Sudan in 2005, it was then the beginning of Bush’s second term and US diplomatic relations with South Sudan were excellence “One thing that Bush did do is he kept up the personal diplomacy. He would make a lot of phone calls,” says Hudson, who also served as director for African affairs on the staff of the National Security Council from 2005 to 2009 and worked on implementing the Comprehensive Peace Agreement.

Kiir “would always get a meeting with Bush. He probably had four Oval Office meetings with the president in the second term, which is a hell of a lot. It’s a hell of a lot for any leader, let alone the leader of not even a country.” Hudson said.

When Obama was elected in 2008, there was a high hope among south Sudanese that Obama will pay more attention to issues like Bush. But he the worst president then the white ones in the US history.

The foreign policy of Obama on south Sudan become more neo-imperial and colonial every year. The good US foreign policy on south Sudan during the time of Bush started to become UGLY immediately when Kerry was appointed and deteriorates with time especially after the failed coup attempt.

I think many countries will limit their foreign relations to the Republican Party only. This is what the Israelis Prime Minister Mr. Benjamin Nyatenyahu is considering now. The foreign policy of the Democrat party becomes UGLY and many countries would soon prefer working with the Republican Party.

It was March this year when the US neo-imperial foreign policy on south Sudan started to become more colonial and imperial; three things had happened concurrently in March this year.

The first one is the draft of psychosomatic sanction by US ambassador to the UN Mrs. Power  which the UNSC passed with a hope that if south Sudan is sanctioned, then the rebels will topple the government because sanctions will affect the economy and anger the public to demonstrate against the government or join the rebellion.

The second one is, the colonial and regal statement released by US secretary of the state Mr. John Kerry “legitimacy is not a presumed right of any government. It is conferred by the people, it is sustained only by the demonstrating leadership to protect and serve all citizens- responsibilities the government has neglected”

It is really impromptu and unfortunate for John Kerry for failing to know that the current leadership is protecting and serving all south Sudanese. This statement may clearly predict what his boss” Obama” may say later on South Sudan government.

It reminds of the statement the president Obama made in 2011 against the government of late Gadaffi “When a leader’s only means of staying in power is to use mass violence against his own people, he has lost the legitimacy to rule and needs to do what is right for his country by leaving now”. I wonder how our western partners especially US understands do  “legitimacy”?

I can’t figure out how Kerry understands these two words in American English “protect and serve”.  Am afraid that they might have different meanings in American English. But what I know is that, the British and American English differs only in pronunciations not the meaning of the words, and if this is true, then Kerry may be trying to invent his own “ Kerry English” that we are yet to learn. It incongruous and rib-tickling for Kerry to try his new invented words on south Sudan. Sorry, you have misplaced your new words sir!

If the meaning of “PROTECT” is to shield from danger, injury, destruction or damage in both American and British English not “Kerry English”, then I may say the demonstrating leadership (current gov’t) is 100% protecting the citizens from Riek not to kill or injure them, destruct or damage their properties. If the meaning of “SERVING” is an act to fulfil a purpose, role or function, then our inventor Mr. Kerry got it wrong again. The legitimate gov’t of president Kiir is fully serving the citizens of south Sudan. We conferred the legitimacy to the current gov’t during 2010 elections not a presumed right as you think and we didn’t complain and shall never complain of its legitimacy.

Who told you that the current leadership has presumed LEGITIMACY and neglected the responsibilities of protecting and serving all citizens? You are biased with your imperial foreign policy that aims specifically on regime change but will never succeed.  You ought to shut up and let’s be masters in our own house, we have confident in ourselves and of the future

South Sudan protects only the few individuals bribed to implement its interest from mass murdering the very citizens it should be protecting.

#1 – Government militia went to UN-Camps to murder citizens seeking safety from the government prosecutions.
#2 – UN-Workers from other ethnics kidnaped and murdered by government operatives.
#3 – South Sudan has not yet allocated funds to feed, shelter, clothed & treat those displaced citizens and been living at UN-Camp since Dec/2013
#4 – South Sudan government soldiers(SPLA-Juba) upon retreating from towns in Upper Nile are said to have burn down entire towns.
#5 – Ethnic citizens are disappearing in Juba and many returns suffering from torture and a wide scale targeting of Equatorian and some politicians from other opposition parties.
#6 – Freedom of press, expression, movement & the right to assembly is a crime in Juba.

I am telling you people that you are doing a great disrespect by associating great quotes from your one time great man with an idiotic article like this. This is not how you honor Dr. Garang. It would have been better for the writer to start with a great quote like that and continue to challenged South Sudanese to Dr.Garang’s bold statement.

Some are convinced South Sudan is a failed state including myself though some are still in denial of the fact. The question are is not whether South Sudanese are capable of ruling themselves but if they have failed to rule themselves. I already listed above what constitutes a failed police fascist state where rule of law no longer exists. South Sudan is currently being defended by Ugandans from its own unhappy citizens– Is that not enough to tell the writer that he(Yel Yel) is actually not in the protection of South Sudan as a sovereign state but under the umbrella of Ugandan protection but like the protection the Ugandan constitution grants to its citizens.. stupid.

Gatnor, You tell every thing, i wish your comment here could be the article about what Dr.John describes. Leer County was burn down by Government, Nasir, Ayod, Rupkona, Ulang etc. Where ever they go looting and burning plus displacement continue. No wonder my brother GatNor, you will see many ugly articles these days as you know economic of Juba has already collapse. Every body is thinking on how to get pocket money as Kiir himself tell Graduate that I wish you to work elsewhere because we have limited Jobs opportunity in Government. There fore the easy way to get Money is to publish false article like the one above here in order to get money. I hope those of AGUMUT, Ater, Ayiuiu and Riak Koang will appreciate this article because their meaningless objectives, visions and futures are the same.

I don’t think this writer understand his own language. Let me break it down by asking this questions (1) in 2013 something happen in Juba I do’t know did it kill people? Or not. (2) a fright broke out in Mading Bor the same month did it take lives? Or not. The same thing happen in Bentiu and Malakal of course it does kill people. Finally in just this month army fight each other in Malakal how do you call that? Blaming others on your own failed to do things right will never help you, admit your wrong doing and you will be ok. Nothing Americans can do more than their support to CPA the rest is on us. My friend I don’t thing your understanding of these two wards give you right answer go back and search the description again. If one live is lost in country no doubt government most answer why it’s lost. What happen in South Sudan is more then lost of live. United States is a country for then 200 years they can deal with you if you are a right person.

Yel yel, why are you supporting Salva Kirr who ordered killing of civilians invain in mid-Decemer 2013 in Juba capital of South Sudan? It is a shame for you to support a leaders who does not service his people and the country in the right way. Kirr has failed us with his tribal leadership and that is why the people of South Sudan are killing themselves without compassion. His government imposes war on ethnics nuer because it hates them for the sake of Dr. Riek Machar. Do not tell the lie to the world on this site by saying that Kirr administration services and protects all the citizen in South Sudan, this is opposite it displaces many thousands South Sudanese from their homes to neighboring countries such Kenya, Uganda, Sudan and Ethiopia. Currently, there are over 100000 civilians (IDP) shelter and living under the protection of the Unmiss inside South Sudan. If Kirr is really a good shepherd who loves and protect all South Sudanese citizens from danger, I think there will be no one who lives as a refugee inside his home country. Unfortunately, the president Kirr and his comrades create hatred, polarization, disunity and split by promoting fail policy which has nothing to do about the development in South Sudan. Other hand Dr.Machar is a man for peace, if he has been given a chance to rule, he should be able to tinitiate good development and also to create the national unity of government by applying the democratical principles in South Sudan. So that all can enjoy the freedom of speech and press which today citizens are not allows to practice by the government in South Sudan. A good example of this restriction of freedom of speech was the event of Dr.Lam Akol who was house arrest last week simple because he expressed his opinion about the way government rules South Sudan.

The only problem with our South Sudan is that the chance granted to us is not the way we would have used it.

undermine, lack Of unity among ourseves is demoting south.
Another Thing is that the goverment lack cooperation and punctuality, such aspects lead to burdening of civilians in the country.

civilians are now puzzle since govt is of nowhere to be seen at the moment leading to distabilisation amongselves.
“I wish to see south sudan in united peace among united people of brotherhood”

Thank

I think you don’t know these people and how disgusting they can be.
Here is a dialogue that took place just recently perhaps not too far from you.

The writer here started whaling thinking he caught a thief not knowing GatNor found out that the writer himself is the biggest of all foolish thieves that should have just walked away with his stolen loots quietly. But he shamelessly exposed himself.

Here enjoy is the joker exposing himself:

Salva Kiir has done great mistake by listening to the foreign acknowledgement and hence caused lose of lives in the republic. If president kiir doesn’t held out the prayers that bishop Nathaniel and Mark Atem said then there I believe it won’t end. The country shouldn’t be led through certain unbelieveable powers.
without leaders, led south sudan be a republic not just a battle field.
Actually, South Sudan is lacking an appropriate understanding in which leaders vow to have enough capital for theirselves not considering what the lower members may inherit.
well, according to my understanding, the RSS republic is insecure because of the massive reduction of the army by the war.
It’s also gonna be hilarious if we all focus on the solution not the destroying of the country.
Has I am talking, many have planned to be again because there is no special hard or strict rule set or estimated to govern the country oh! leaders, hear our crys and also mind about the upcoming leaders that are just dying, well, I mean children who are starving because of war.

 !!! CHANGE MY HOMELAND!!!

South Sudan is unstable.
Kiir should change the way of treating other leaders or else the republic is going to vanish.
Elections should carried out and if racism happens, then the case has to be handed to the ICC for solution and therefore the suspect should be handed or lowered from the the current position.
