Oct 21, 2016 (Nyamilepedia) — South Sudan’s controversial First Vice President Taban Deng Gai has lashed out at his own government for having what he described as a “Hand-to-Mouth” system and at the same time failing to provide any kind of services or development to the people for a long period of time due to “Negative Attitudes”.

“You could see from 2005 up to day we have used a lot of money because we are thinking from hand to mouth, we just go to undersecretary of finance, he gives us money for salaries and assistance ” Mr Taban said

Taban wondered why the country had not benefitted from its resources or money, saying most of the money is being used on salaries but no work is being done in return by most government institutions and ministries, he called on the undersecretaries to come up with serious development plans instead of running the government without any concrete development plans or projects.

“Now look since 2005 how much money we have wasted, do we have roads? Do we have universities? Do we have electricity? All these money have just gone” Taban asked.

During the meeting with government undersecretaries representing the different government clusters Taban said a lot of money has been wasted and lost but with no significant results for the citizens of South Sudan.

The remarks by Taban Deng Gai is seen as growing sign of frustration with lack of progress and the slow manner in which things are said to be moving within government of Salva Kiir.

Taban Deng Gai was hurriedly and controversially sworn in as First Vice President by President Salva Kiir after Dr Riek Machar leader of the armed opposition was forced to flee the capital Juba in another renewal of violence in July this year after being outgunned by their opponents. The armed opposition have accused Taban Deng of conspiring with Salva Kiir to kill or replace the SPLM-IO leader Dr Riek Machar in order to abrogate the ARCISS peace process.

Taban blasted without mentioning names those he claimed to be acting as if there is no problem in the country.

“And we are relaxed like there is no problem. Actually we should be disturbed.” concluded Taban
