In a press conference, the Chairman of the Sovereign Council Abdel Fattah al-Burhan announced that he dissolved the Transitional government and declared a state of emergency.

“What the country is going through threatens the country’s future, I declare a state of emergency across the country,
Suspension of work on some articles of the constitutional document Dissolving the Sovereignty Councils and Ministers”,Burhan announced during the press conference.

Gen. Al-Burhan also declared that they took over the power in the country and will arrange the democratic transition in the upcoming elections.

“We confirm that the armed forces will continue the democratic transition until the handover of power to an elected government”, Burhan declared in a press conference.

The coup was carried out earlier morning by the military officers believed to be connected with the Sudanese former president Omer Al-Bashir and there is high possibility that it won’t be foiled like the two recent coups.

The Sudanese leaders have been in a tension for the last two years as they try to form a transitional government that would end the conflicts and the military rule in the country, something that the international community welcomed with opened arms and tried to support both financially and ideologically.

The military juntaS, who led the transitional government for the last two years, are believe to be pro-Bashir; however, they angered with the ICC to persecute the former president and have been waiting to hand him over to the International Criminal Court.

The corporation shown to America and other western countries got Sudan removed from the terrorism sponsor list but a miltary coup that may install the former dictator could pose a challenge to the little bilateral relationships that were gained since Bashir was overthrown.

So far Americans, Germany and other western allies have condemned the coup and declared their support for protesters and pro-democracy leaders; however,  that may not change the minds of the military coup leaders.
