Sudanese revolution “almost hijacked from the people”

Khartoum, Sudan

October 20,2021—The Sudanese revolution that overpowered, leading to the arrest of the former dictator and long-term president, Field Marshall Omar Hassan al Bashir, is likely to go down without achieving its objective as hoped, the prime minister announced.

According to Abdallah Hamdok, the Prime Minister who leads the civilian component of Unity government, there is a serious political stalemate in his government which he believes is being played by those who want to make democratic transition and those want to usurp the power through illegal means in the country.

In a statement seen by Nyamilepedia, PM Hamdok said he can never be neutral in a situation intended to demean the hard won revolution of the Sudanese people, saying his position is very clear as a democrat who would like to see a democratic transfer of power instead of stealing people’s revolution.

“The conflict is not between civilians and the military, but rather between the camp of the civil democratic transition and the camp of the coup plotters against the revolution, a conflict in which I am not neutral or mediator”

He said, the slogans of December revolution will be translated into reality.

“My position is clear and stern, which is none rather than supporting civil democratic transition and to complete the tasks of the glorious December revolution and to achieve its slogans of freedom, peace and justice”, PM Hamdok stated on his official Facebook page.

Since Bashir was overthrown, two coup attempts believed to have been orchestrated by the elements loyal to the ousted President were allegedly thwarted.

Despite a peace agreement that was signed in the South Sudanese capital of Juba, Sudan has continued to experience one of the worst economic crises and political instability.

While working out their internal differences, the Sudanese also have to keep an eye on their border with Ethiopia and also with South Sudan as political situations in both countries to displace thousands of refugees and armed militias into their territories.
