September 3, 2020(Nyamilepedia) — The Sudan People Liberation Movement – North, under the leadership of Abdalaziz Adam Alhilu, who boycotted the signing of the Sudanese Peace deal on Monday August 31, 2020 in Juba, South Sudan, has come to terms to sign a Joint Agreement in the South Sudan capital today, Thursday September 3, 2020.

The Joint Agreement, which was also signed by the Sudanese Prime Minister Abdalla Hamdok, states a number of conditions that must be fulfilled by the stakeholders to validate the peace agreement.

The conditions that were tabled by the SPLM-North leader include that there must be full recognition and accommodation of diversities along racial, ethnic, religious and cultural lines in the new Sudan.

The SPLM-North demands that there must be complete political anbd social equalities in the Sudan and that must be granted by law.

Among other preconditions, the parties agreed to maintain cessation of hostilities throughout the peace process until security arrangements are agreed upon and that the people of Nuba Mountain and Blue Nile retain the status quo to self-protection until security arrangements are made and until “separation between religion and state” are actualized.
