February 9th 2019 (Nyamilepedia) – The main armed opposition group, SPLM-IO, led by the country’s former First Vice-President Dr. Riek Machar urged on Friday South Sudanese citizens living in Sudan to stay away from the ongoing Sudanese protests.

This come after the armed opposition group reported that around 8 people from South Sudan have been arrested and are being investigated for participating in internal Sudanese politics.

In a statement issued on Friday, Ruot Palatah, a spokesman for the main armed opposition mission in Khartoum, urged South Sudanese in Khartoum to remain indoors and stay away from Sudanese politics as protests continue.

“We urge you to stay in your homes and avoid hanging around in public places for the sack of your dear safety,” Ruot said.

He revealed that around eight people are detained by the Sudanese authorities for participating in protests.

“There were about eight men from South Sudan who are accused of being involved in the Sudan protests and were put in jail,” he said adding: “Our office recently received such news from South Sudanese judges who are living in Khartoum.”

“We would also like to remind you not to forget what brought you to Sudan which is not the case of involvement  in other state’s affairs,” he added.
