April 24, 2020 (Nyamilepedia) – Hundreds of armed men from South Sudan’s Greater Pibor Administrative area are preparing to attack villages in neighboring Greater Akobo, officials in Waat said on Friday.

This comes after a month of reportedly clashes between Lou-Nuer and the Murle Youth in the area that resulted into the displacement of innocent civilians in several parts of both Akobo and Pibor.

“We have received reports that the Murle youth are preparing to attack our villages in Greater Akobo and maybe the Akobo itself,” the official who refused to be named said from Waat.

“Many people coming from there have said that the mobilization has been going on for a number of days and that the attack could launched anytime,” he added.

Authorities in Greater Pibor Administrative area were not available for comments, but sources in Lokongule confirmed that activities pointing to preparation for attack were visible.

“There are unusual activities between the youth. People seem to be preparing for war and this is a cause for concern as we are tired of daily flight,” one woman who spoke to Nyamilepedia from Lokongule said on condition of anonymity.

Another source said the authorities there appear to sponsor the preparation for the attack as mobilization takes place in the watchful eye of the Administrative area.
