South Sudan confirms Machar’s visit to Juba tomorrow

September 8th 2019 (Nyamilepedia) – South Sudan’s ministry of foreign affairs has confirmed that main armed opposition leader Dr. Riek Machar will visit Juba tomorrow.

Machar who is also the First Vice-President designate will be accompanied by Sudan’s Deputy Chairman of Sovereignty Council General Mohamed Hamdan Daglo/Hemeti according to a circular issued by the foreign ministry today.

He will have a face-to-face meeting with President Salva Kiir Mayardit and discuss issues pertaining to the implementation of the revitalized peace agreement.

Below is the full text of the circular.

Your Excellencies dear colleagues,

On instructions from the Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Hon. Awut Deng Achuil and Deputy Minister, Hon. Deng Dau, I have the honour to inform you that Dr. Riek Machar will be arriving in Juba, South Sudan tomorrow to hold a face to face meeting with H.E. Salva Kiiir Mayardit, President of the Republic of South Sudan.

Dr. Riek will be accompanied by the Deputy of Sudan’s Sovereign Council and 5 other high ranking members.

The delegation from Sudan’s Sovereign Council will also hold talks with SPLM-N while in Juba.
