August 25, 2015(Nyamilepedia) — Deadly shooting last night at the UN Protection Site in South Sudan Capital, Juba, has left at least two people dead and others in critical condition.

Speaking to one of the residents in Juba, the shooting was carried out by government supporters at POC3 campsite.

“They are security forces of Salva Kiir. they want to kill us because Salva Kiir has rejected peace and they just want to kill us”. Said Mary Nyachin.

“The government militias fired into UNMISS resulting in the shooting of my cousin Bichuch Wichar the son of Nyakuoth Luak Kok on His left femur got fractured with a Gunshot. I wish him quick recovery.” said Dong Luak

The source confirmed that the unidentified soldiers laid ambushes near the protection site, targeting IDPs mostly from POC-3 campsite.

For the last few days Juba has been tense as government supporters went rampage killing civilians and at least one journalist.

A man, who was identified as Ethiopian, was also killed at the UNMISS (POC3) gate this morning and two others were injuried.

According to residents, the man went outside the camp in the morning to buy breakfast for his family but was killed on his way.

Two Ethiopian business men who were delivering breads for sale at the same campsite were injured in an ambushed this morning but were rescued by UNMISS troops.

At the order of Minister of labor and SPLM-IG secretariat, government supporters protested in thousands against peace on Friday, August 21, 2015.

Unlike government supporters, IDPs in UNMISS camps were told not to demonstrate or celebrate the peace agreement for their own safety. Instead they held prayers meetings in POC3 campsite.

“Yes, we did not celebrate or demonstrate because UN does not want us to demonstration in it protection site. We just prayed” said Doboul Luak, a chairman of IDPs Gawaar Community.

“On August 20, the IDPS women in poc-3 campsite in juba organized a peace prayer for the signing and implementation of the proposed peace agreement. They congratulated the leaders who accepted peace and urge the international community to pressure Salva Kiir to sign the document.” he continued.

The unprovoked shooting over the UNMISS camp came a few hours after Salva Kiir met his council of Ministers, state governors, heads of commissions and other government institutions and reportedly accepted to sign the peace agreement within the next few days.

According to Press Secretary Ateny Wek Ateny, Salva Kiir has agreed to sign the peace agreement next week.

Ateny confirmed that Kiir will travel to Addis Ababa on Monday to sign the overdue peace agreement.
