August 31st 2019 (Nyamilepedia) – A high-level meeting of South Sudan rebel leaders in the Netherlands has ended with the establishment of a new opposition alliance according to a document extended to Nyamilepedia.

The South Sudan National Democratic Alliance (SSNDA) led by General Thomas Cirilo Swaka, South Sudan United Front/Army (SSUF/A) led by General Paul Malong Awan and Real Sudan People’s Liberation Movement (R-SPLM) led by Pagan Amum have resolved to form the ‘South Sudan Opposition Movements.’

The three groups are not part of the revitalized peace agreement signed in September last year by President Salva Kiir and main armed opposition leader Dr. Riek Machar.

The holdout opposition groups resolved in the “Declaration of Principles” to bring to an end the South Sudan civil war by “addressing the root causes of the conflict and seeking a permanent solution to the insecurity and humanitarian disaster” ripping the country.

They also said that they will “Free South Sudan from the grip of ethnic chauvinism, nepotism, despotic oppression and institutionalized corruption,” and that they will also “Develop a common unified position to address the conflict in South Sudan.”

They said in the document that they will return the country to the previous ten states and to apply federalism as the system of governance in the world’s youngest nation.
