June 7th 2018 (Nyamilepedia)  –  Kenya’s peace envoy and former Prime Minister is in South Africa for talks with South Sudan’s former First Vice-President and prominent opposition and SPLM-IO leader Riek Machar and South African President Cyril Ramaphosa over peace efforts in the young African country, the Nyamilepedia have learned.

The Kenyan opposition leader and peace envoy met last month with South Sudan’s President Salva Kiir Mayardiit in the South Sudanese capital Juba where the two discussed peace and the possible Machar return to the country for peace implementation.

A source attached to the former First Vice-President said they were informed this afternoon that the former Kenyan Prime Minister will meet Machar and Ramaphosa on Friday afternoon as per preparation by the South African President.

“Raila Odinga is here and we have just been informed that he will meet the President Ramaphosa first in the morning and then will meet the Chairman afternoon on Friday, ” the source who preferred anonymity told the Nyamilepedia today.

Odinga is allegedly opposed to Machar’s detention in South Africa.  He reportedly told President Kiir in June last month that Machar must return home is there were to be peace in the young African country.

A source told the Nyamilepedia that the president insisted that the former first vice president and the SPLM-IO leader Riek Machar should not return to the country saying that he had disagreed with him in several transitions and his return could not mean something new for South Sudan. However, the same source said Odinga told president Kiir that if there were to be peace, Machar have to return to South Sudan.

“Peace is made between enemies and not between friends. If there were to be peace in South Sudan, rival leaders must come together at all levels of government. And that is why, Riek Machar, the chairman of the SPLM-IO must return if there were to be peace in your country,” Odinga told president Salva Kiir in a closed door meeting.

Raila Odinga who is the chairman of the Kenyan opposition coalition NASA was appointed by the Kenyan president as both the country’s envoy to South Sudan and representative to the country’s peace process in the neighboring Ethiopia.

On Wednesday, Raila met European Union envoys and briefed them on his talks with besieged South Sudan President Salva Kiir.

The meeting took place at the residence of the EU Ambassador to Kenya, Stefano A Dejak, — just four days after Raila met Kiir for hours of closed-door deliberations last weekend.

This is a guy who knows liberalism in and out. He paid heavily for his beliefs in human rights as required by creation of mankind by almighty God. No one is above another . Every man is created in the image of God. and all lives must be treated equally. The son of Jaramogi Odinga is a statesman, compassionate, and respecatable leader that Africa has produced and deserves respect. By lineage of blood he is a son of South Sudan. He must be listened to carefully in order allow the peace plant grow in the country. Omera thank you for taking this responsibility.
