May 12th 2019 (Nyamilepedia) – South Sudan protest organizers said in a statement extended to the Nyamilepedia on Sunday that protests would go on as planned on Thursday, May 16 in the capital Juba.

The group has identified four assembly points in different part of the South Sudan’s capital urging all residents to join in the protest, which they said, would aim at airing grievances.

“To the people of South Sudan, young people, the protest is going to take place on 16 of May as planned,” said the statement extended to the Nyamilepedia on Sunday.

“We are calling upon the people of South Sudan from all walks of life to joins the youth during the protest,” the statement added.

The statement further said the protesters would gather in “four most important locations across the city (Juba) to air out our grievances.” These places would include Konyoknonyo Market, Custom Market, Suk Militia, Hai Malakal as well as Suk Jabel in Juba.

The statement called on the government of South Sudan to avoid the use of force against the protesters saying they will not – for their part – use violent means of protesting.

“We call upon the government to exercise restraints not to use violence to disperse the protesters. The youth will not be violent but peacefully marching. We request all media outlets to cover the protest,” the statement added.
