President Kiir receives UK Minister for Africa and Envoy for Famine Prevention

Oct 22, 2020(Nyamilepedia) — South Sudan’s President, Salva Kiir, receives the UK Minister for Africa, Hon James Duddridge and the UK Envoy for Famine Prevention and Humanitarian Affairs, Nick Dyer, today on Thursday in the capital, Juba.

According to the press office of President Salva Kiir, the meeting discussed the progress of the implementation of Revitalized Peace Agreement and Humanitarian issues in South Sudan.

In his remarks to the media after the meeting, UK Minister for Africa, Mr. James Duddridge said the UK is concerned of the humanitarian situation and status of Famine in South Sudan.

James Duddridge added that UK has provided South Sudan with humanitarian assistance of 8 million British Pounds to support the victims who are affected by floods due to the heavy rains.

The Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Beatrice Khamisa Wani said, the meeting discussed the progress made and still to be made on the implementation of the Revitized Peace Agreement.

Beatrice Khamisa added that they also touched on the issue of Upper Nile State Governor, stating that no concrete breakthrough has been made but there is hope that it will be resolved soon.
