April 16th 2018 (Nyamilepedia) – South Sudan’s Opposition Alliance based in the Ethiopian capital Addis Ababa told mediators on Saturday in a letter seen by the Nyamilepedia that Salva Kiir Mayardiit and former FVP Riek Machar Teny should be excluded from any future governance until elections arguing that the two leaders failed during successive transitions to bring peace and development.

“President Salva Kiir and Dr. Machar will lead the transitional government because of their successive failures in managing the previous four transitions,” partly read a letter of position addressed to the IGAD mediation.

The united position was reportedly reached by the Alliance during a consultative meeting conducted on Friday in the Ethiopian capital Addis Ababa with representatives from difference armed and non-armed opposition groups.

The groups also agreed to return the country to the defunct 10-states system beside the Pibor and Abyei special administrative areas which was altered by president Salva Kiir in October 2015. The group said they instead want the Federal system of governance in the country rather than the current centralized system which they said confined all powers and resources to the ruling “elites” in the nation’s capital Juba.

The Alliance proposed that the state of emergency declared by president Salva Kiir both from the onset of the conflict in 2013 and those followed should be lifted and called for reform in the security sector.

The decision was reached and agreed upon by signatories from Federal Democratic Party lead by Gabriel Changson Lew Chang, Leader of the National Salvation Front Dr Thomas Cirilo, leader of the South Sudan National Democratic Movement, Dr Lam Akol Ajawin, leader of the the Former Detainees, Gatwech K. Thick, leader of UDRA, leader of the South Sudan United Movement Peter Gatdet Yaka, leader of the South Sudan Patriotic Movement, Dr Costello Garang Ring, leader of the National Movement for Change and former governor of Western Equatoria State Bangasi Joseph Bakosoro, and leader of the South Sudan National Democratic Movement Joseph Nguen Manytuil Wijang.

The Opposition Alliance is a group of 10 armed and non-armed opposition groups for the aim of creating united front in the peace talks against the government.
