August 26th 2018 (Nyamilepedia) – Relative of the US journalist killed in South Sudan in August 2017 has appealed to the authorities in South Sudan to conduct investigation into the killing of Christopher Allen.

South Sudan’s army the SPLA and main armed opposition group, the SPLA-IO led by the country’s former First Vice President Dr. Riek Machar said the war-zone American journalist was caught in the fighting between the two sides.

Speaking today during the first funeral anniversary that marks the passing on of the US journalist, Eddie, uncle of the slain journalists blamed the death of Christopher Allen on South Sudan and media actors for failing to carry out an investigation into the death of his cousin.
”Since his death, there has been no meaningful push from any government or International agency for responsibility to be taken for the killing. No call for an investigation. in South Sudan, the killing continues“ said Eddie Einbeder Luks, Christoper’s uncle.
He said the family is paralyzed by the lack of action by the South Sudan government and some media actors to investigate the circumstances which let to his killing one year ago.
”Since my cousin was killed, the lack of action by government or media actors to seek justice has left us feeling paralyzed. Fear of offending the only parties that could possibly investigate has caused well intended letters and articles to sit unsent and unpublished time passes and interest wanes. There remains a painful need for someone to care,” he said.
