Nhial Deng, Athian Diing and Dier Tong brief Kiir on economic reforms

March 9, 2021(Nyamilepedia) — On Monday, H.E. President Salva Kiir Mayardit hosted the Minister of Presidential Affairs, Minister of finance and the Central Bank governor who briefed him on the country’s economic reforms.

“Monday, 8th March 2021, H.E. President Salva Kiir Mayardit was briefed by the Minister of Presidential Affairs Hon. Nhial Deng Nhial, Minister of Finance and Planning Hon. Athian Diing Athian and the Governor of the Bank of South Sudan Hon. Dier Tong Ngor on the matters to do with economic reforms,” Read a statement by the presidential press.

According to Hon. Nhial Deng Nhial, the three leaders briefed them on the ongoing discussions with the IMG.

“Hon. Nhial Deng Nhial said, they gave H.E. President Salva Kiir Mayardit an elaborated briefing about the status of the ongoing discussion being held by the Government of South Sudan and IMF on the matters connected to economic reforms that the Government of South Sudan would undertake,” the president’s office continued.

Hon. Nhial Deng Nhial said, H.E. President Salva Kiir Mayardit gave them his full support and further directives on how to proceed with the process. 

He also added that they also briefed H.E. President Salva Kiir on the outcome of their visit to Nairobi Kenya where they met with the Kenyan leadership to discuss a wide range of issues particularly on the matters related to economic cooperation and integration between the two Countries. 

The presidential press further stated that Hon. Nhial Deng Nhial said that they found that the Kenyan leadership is as keen as South Sudan to promote economic ties and further integration of the two Countries, on bilateral bases as well as in the context of the East African Community.
