Lt. Gen. Saddam Chayuot Manyang Salutes Dr. Machar Addressing July 8th Victims in The Capital, Juba

July 8th, 2018(Nyamilepedia) —– Speaking today in the South Sudanese capital, Juba, former rebel governor of Adar State, Lt. Gen. Saddam Chayuot Manyang, salutes Dr. Riek Machar Teny, chairman and Commander in Chief of SPLM/A in opposition and the Sudanese President, Omar Hassan el Bashir, for restoring hopes for peace in South Sudan.

Addressing the mourners of J1 July 2016 fighting, who gathered in large numbers today in the UN Protection Centers, the former governor of Adar State, spoke very highly of Dr. Machar in a place where many people fear to mention Machar’s names.

L.t General Chayuot applauds the main opposition faction led by the country’s First Vice President[2011], Dr. Riek Machar Teny, for his quest to bring peace to the country.

The memorial service gathering was organized by the Nuer Christian Mission Network in Juba PoC sites.

According to General Chayuot, both Machar and Bashir have done a tremendous job in a short period of time and deserve recognition for successful negotiations and signing of Permanent Ceasefire and Security Arrangements dossiers in Khartoum within the last two weeks.

“First and foremost, I would like to appreciated the Chairman and commander in chief of the SPLM/A IO H.E Dr Riek Machar Teny Dhurgon for the successful meeting in Khartoum and his campaign to bring back the lasting peace in the country, with Sudanese president H.E FM Omer Albashir to sign the lasting peace in south sudan;
“I would like to congratulated the IDPS COMMUNITY in south Sudan for they had remembered the lost life in J1 incident for they didn’t die in veins. And all the General who attend the ceremony of 8/7/2018;
I would like to also congratulated the Nuer Christian Mission Network for the wise decision that they have taken today gathering at Ngundeng Stadium for two reason” he said.

Lt. Gen. Chayuot returned to Juba in 2016 as part of a peace pack that collapsed that year and since then he remained sheltered in the UN camp after the SPLM/A(IO) were fought and forced out of the capital by forces loyal to President Kiir in July 2016.

It has been two years since the agreement signed in August 2015 shattered following the renewed military confrontations between the government forces and the SPLA-IO troops that left dozens of soldiers dead, on both sides.

The battle, which started at the Presidential Palace [J1] on July 8th, claimed over 300 lives within the first two hours and left thousands others dead or displaced between July to September 2016.

Since 2016, more than 2 millions people have been displaced to UN camps or refugees’ camps in the neighboring countries.

Attempts by the region to reconcile the warring parties failed several times until Dr. Machar resurfaced from house arrest, which he served in Pretoria, South Africa, for almost two years.

So far, the first face-to-face meeting between Dr. Machar and his bitter rival, Salva Kiir, has yielded a few signatures and more are expected if Sudan mediation continues.

Both the warring factions seem to be more conformable with the Sudanese mediated Peace Talks, however, a short trip to Entebbe, Kampala-Uganda two days ago for more mediation under the auspice of the Ugandan President seems to have injected more confusion than progress.

South Sudan, a country that has known more war than peace, can no longer afford the luxuries of war.

While South Sudan’s embassies abroad are closing down, one after another, the young nation cannot afford to celebrate her birthdays!
