March 4th 2019 (Nyamilepedia) – The Intergovernmental Authority on Development (IGAD)’s special envoy, Amb. Ismail Wais, has invited Gen. Paul Malong Awan for a follow-up meeting due for next week in the Kenyan capital Nairobi.

Malong, a former South Sudan army chief, is the leader of the South Sudan United Front (SSUF) which is seeking to remove President Salva Kiir from power.

In an invitation message seen by the Nyamilepedia and addressed to the former military chief, the IGAD special envoy for South Sudan, Ambassador Ismail Wais said the meeting will discuss modalities on which basis Malong will participate in the implementation of the revitalized peace agreement.

“The purpose of the meeting is to discuss modalities for your participation in the implementation of the R-ARCSS, [Agreement on Resolution of the Conflict in South Sudan] and the peace process,” partly reads the letter from the IGAD diplomat seen by the Nyamilepedia.
