The Governor of Central Equatoria State, Hon.Emmanuel Adil Anthony, calls the greater Equatoria region delegates, who will attend the conference tomorrow at the Freedom Hall to build a consensus on fundamental issues that will uplift the region to meet its intended purposes and vision.

The Central Equatoria State governor appeals to the delegates to agree on a few positions that represent the interest of the region and present them at the conference in spirit that demonstrate unity and heart of togetherness.

“Governor Adil also appealed to the delegates to be at the forefront of preserving the unity and embrace a heart of togetherness as Equatorians in pursuing a common position that will address the challenges encountering the region in its path for social-economical and political changes.” Derick Derickson, the spokesperson of the CES governor states.

“Governor Adil further underscored to the delegates to articulate issues in a very constructive and diplomatic manner that will not compromise the sovereignty.” He added.

Derick reiterates that the Governor of Eastern Equatoria State, Hon.Louis Lobong Lojore, assured the delegates of their readiness as Governors of Equatoria region to support this noble course in all ways possible and ensure the full implementation of the outcome is duly affected at all levels as desired by the people through their representatives.

The national dialogue conference, which will run for two weeks between November 3rd and November 17, is expected to address national issues on reconciliation and healing; however, major stakeholders that include the SPLM/A-IO and the NDM of Dr. Lam Akol will not attend it.

Both Dr. Riek Machar and Dr. Lam Akol have openly said their positions on the national dialogue.

Although it was initiated by President Kiir in their absence, the SPLM/A-IO and NDM believe that the timing of the event is wrong given that many important tasks that should proceed the dialogue are not in place.

“It is not the voice of President Kiir or any leader. Our co-chair asked Dr. Machar why he did not join this process. He said it was something good but at a wrong time,” said Vincent Mark Wanga, the head of communications and information of the South Sudan National Dialogue Secretariat.

“Specifically, our attention should be focused on the holding of the workshop for the parties to agree on the details of conducting the constitution-making process (Article 6.7 of R-ARCSS).” Lam said.

Lam reiterated that the R-ARCSS is the only political process that the parties have agreed on, not the National Dialogue.

“This will be followed by the actual preparations and convening of the constitutional conference (Articles 6.8-6.16 of R-ARCSS. This is the only inclusive political process the stakeholders have agreed on and nothing should detract us from that course,” the letter continued.
