Former Commissioner of Tombura County killed in the latest attacks

August 24,2021—Latest reports from Tombura county confirmed that the former commissioner of Tombura County, Babiro Charles Gbamisi, has been killed during the latest attack in Tombura.

“Yes, he (Charles Babiro) is dead. He was shot dead this morning (Tuesday) and the dead body has been taken to the army barrack,” a reliable source tells City Review.

Speaking to local media, the state minister of information, Hon. William Baki, also confirmed that the former commissioner has been killed.

“We got a report that the former commissioner was killed in the attack,” William Baiki stated.

Baiki also confirmed that the house of the current commissioner of Tambura, Hon Mathew Mabenge, was also attacked.

In a statement seen by Nyamilepedia , the circumstances surrounding the death of the former commissioner are yet to be verified.

“The circumstances under which the former commissioner was shot and killed remained unclear”, the statement says.

Tombura County of Western Equatoria has been going through unabated inter-communal clashes as neighboring communities continue to target each other; however, armed groups including the SPLA-IO are also accused to have involved in the latest attacks.

The late commissioner was appointed as the commissioner of Tombura after the 2010 election by the then governor Joseph Bakosoro.
