February 20th 2020 (Nyamilepedia) – Former South Sudan Presidential Advisor and ex-envoy to the Russian Federation Telar Ring Deng has resigned from the ruling Sudan People’s Liberation Movement (SPLM).

Deng did not mention reasons for his resignation but said it was very difficult to work with President Salva Kiir.

“It is with regret that I tender in my resignation as a member of the SPLM – IG,” he said in a letter addressed to president Salva Kiir dated February 18th.

“This follows my observation that it is evidently clear we can no longer work together based on a number of reasons I don’t want to indulge myself into in this particular notice of resignation.

He further thanked Kiir for “opportunities you have given me to serve the Republic of South Sudan as a State Minister in Khartoum, Caretaker Governor of Lakes State, Presidential Advisor on Legal Affairs and South Sudan Ambassador to the Russian Federation under you.”

“I have enjoyed working with you, but I feel that now the time has come for me to tender in my resignation and seek other political avenues as I continue pursuing serving the people of South Sudan.

“Last but not least, I take this opportunity again to thank you and everyone in the SPLM – IG that I had the opportunity and pleasure to work with over the years since the inception of the SPLM in 1983.

“I had enjoyed being part of the liberation struggle leading to the Independence of South Sudan.”
