February 7th 2019 (Nyamilepedia) – Former Press Secretary for leader of SPLM-IO Dr. Riek Machar Teny-Dhurgon said on Wednesday that there should be not return to war as people of South Sudan now need services.

James Gatdet made the appeal in a statement to the Sudan Tribune on Wednesday.

“The people of South Sudan need peace. They need basic services. There should be no return to war again,” he said.

He said he has forgiven those who were responsible for his deportation from the Kenyan capital Nairobi in November 2016 that resulted in his two-year imprisonment.

“I want to leave behind whatever had happened to me. I have forgiven those responsible for my kidnapping and illegal deportation from Nairobi to Juba,” he said.

Dak congratulated President Kiir and SPLM-IO’s leader, Machar, on reaching the peace deal.

“I don’t want to hold grudges against anyone. I want to reconcile with those who targetted me and made me suffer,” he added.

James Gatdet Dak who was a registered refugee in Kenya, was kidnapped from his home in Nairobi on 2 November 2016 and was deported to Juba where he was tried for treason charges and then sentenced to death.

In October last year, President Kiir issued amnesty for Gatdet to be release and he was later released after two days.
