Sept 27, 2016(Nyamilepedia) — Speaking to Nyamilepedia editorial team on Tuesday, Sept 27th, the Catholic Father said several looting of priests’ residences of Holy Family-Lainya and St Joseph -Lutaya Parishes of Yei Catholic Diocese.

The Residences for St Joseph Parish Priest were looted twice this month of September.

Speaking to Nyamilepedia Editorial team over the phone, the Pastoral Coordinator, Fr Faustino Lumori, confirmed that unknown gunmen broke into ten rooms and took the belongings of the priests.

“Thieves on September 21 this year broke into ten rooms in the priest residence, taking all the belongings including clothes for the priests,” Fr. Said.

Fr. Pastoral Coordinator explains that the thieves used axes and machetes to break into the houses, dismantling the solar panels on the roof of the houses.

Lumori told Christians on Sunday during service that it was the second looting carried out in the Father’s residences this month.

Vicar General Fr Zachariah Angutuwa Sebit says as soon as the priests left Holy Family Parish-Lainya, all their property including motor bikes and iron sheets were looted.

“Soldiers uploaded into a vehicle and took away more than fife-hundred iron sheets meant for the construction of a church building,” Vicar General said.

The pastoral Coordinator says they are yet to find out the general situation of St Augustine Parish-Ombachi as insecurity continuous in the area.

The priests are concerned over “lack of respect for the church” and its property in the country and such acts are ‘dangerous and bad signs’.

The nation “will not have peace and freedom” if such evil deeds are now directed to the church that always stands neutral, he warns.

Last year, priests’ houses in Holy Family Parish-Lainya were burned down.

Nyamilepedia contacted police officers in Yei. According to one police officer, who declined to be named on the report, none of the suspects has been arrested so far by the police in the area.

It is not clear how and why all these atrocities, thefts and killing could happened in a town that is controlled by SPLA and other organized forces.

“SPLA and organized will take responsibilities of such incidents within Churches and outside the churches and mosques too,” Police said.
