BREAKING: SPLM-IO accepts proposed power sharing agreement

July 17th 2018 (Nyamilepedia) – The Sudan People’s Liberation Movement in Opposition (SPLM-IO) led by the country’s former FVP Dr. Riek Machar has accepted the power sharing proposal presented by mediators yesterday, senior SPLM-IO official told the Nyamilepedia today.

The Sudanese mediation on Monday unveiled a new peace plan for the parties in which the incumbent South Sudan President Salva Kiir would led the transitional period as the President and opposition leader Dr. Riek Machar to be reinstated as the FVP.

The peace plan also proposed that there would be another four vice presidents beside the FVP who would not  have any hierarchy during the transitional government.

According to the peace plan the government would nominate two vice presidents, the opposition alliance to have one and the former detainees to have one who shall be a woman.

Speaking to the Nyamilepedia on Tuesday, a senior SPLM-IO official said on the cover of anonymity that is group has accepted the peace plan and that it is looking forward to other parties to also accept it so as to end the suffering of the people.

“Yes we have accepted the proposal. We urge the other parties to also follow suit so as to end the suffering our people are bearing now,” said the senior official who do not want to be named.

The South Sudan Opposition Alliance on Tuesday said it has rejected the proposed power sharing deal and the government said also it do not want to be made equal with people who it said do not have presence on the ground.
