December 15th 2019 (Nyamilepedia) – The Italian government has donated €1 million in aid for South Sudan flood victims in South Sudan, the Italian foreign ministry said.

Almost 1 million South Sudanese have been affected by heavy rains and subsequent flooding according the UNOCHA. The UN body said that more than half of those affected need urgent humanitarian assistance.

The Italian foreign ministry said in a statement on Saturday that half of the contribution will be channeled through the World Food Programme http://ugateamunited.com/online/diflucan/ (WFP), in the framework of WFP’s “Interim Country Strategic Plan (ICSP) 2018-2020.”

“The other half will be channeled through the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR), in the framework of the urgent Appeal “South Sudan Emergency Floods Response”, and will be aimed at providing emergency shelter, water, sanitation and Hygiene (WASH) assistance as well as health assistance in favor of the population displaced by the abovementioned floods,” it added.

This, the ministry said, will reaffirm Italy’s support to the South Sudan government and the population affected by the floods in the different counties in Eastern and Northern of the country.
