According to the spokesperson of the SPLA in Opposition, Brig. Gen. William Gatjiath Deng, the military forces loyal to the president launched new offensives from 6am this morning and fighting is still ongoing at the time of this report.

“Heavy attacks is on, at “Kirwa” and “Ajoh” military base right now!” Brig. Gen. William Gatjiath said.

“This morning at around 6:00AM, East African Time, the South Sudan People’s Defence Forces (SSPDF) all under command of an autocratic regime sporadically attacked the mightiest Forces of Sudan People’s Liberation Army in Opposition SPLA (IO) at Kirwa and Ajoh military garrisons, all situated at the outskirts of Kejo-kejo County.” Gatjiath continued.

According to Brig. Gen. William Gatjiath, the SPLA-IO forces under the overall command of Maj Gen. John Mabieh Gaar have repulsed the attacking SSPDF and continue to hold their ground.

“The well trained army of the SPLA (IO), all under command of Cdr. Maj.General John Mabieh Gaar, had responded more professionally, and indeed, they neutralized and repulsed the huge expedition of the merciless militias, with no excuse, and pursued them in disarray toward Kejo-kejo, the closest part of the County.” Gatjiath said.

The SPLA-IO claims to have inflicted heavy casualties on their opponents and captured their weapons.

“Right in the aftermath of raid, the (SSPDF) flatoon, comprised of (33) foot soldiers were undoubtedly subjected to extinction, or immediately lost lives in the battle early this morning and we have confidently counted (78) AK-47, (25) PKM, (7) RPG-7 found in good condition at the battlefield.” He added.

The SPLA-IO calls on the international community and the region to hold peace violators accountable for their actions.

“It’s clear to the worldwide, region and in the country in particular that the situation is still deteriorating in some parts of the country, which shows that we are on the verge of losing trust and imminently rolling into war since the regime still loggerheaded the implementation of the agreement.” Gatjiath said.

“The SPLA (IO) leadership has been for so long questioning the techniques, and the approaches, being used by the guarantors and the revitalized transional government of national unity (R-TGoNU) that are in the deaf ears, not even seeing the naughtiness of the regime against the will of the entire nation and still keeping quiet as if, nothing has been happening at the outskirts of Juba.” He continued.

According to the SPLA-IO spokesman, the SPLM/A-(IO) leadership still embraces peace and it is “working hard to save the nation from the wild beasts”, assuring to “protect the territories of the people’s movement from the regime’s encroachments’ policy.”
