Ivory bank opens a new branch in Kuajok, urged to give jobs to locals

Nov 20, 2020(Nyamilepedia) — After almost three years of lacking financial services, Warrap State residents now have a reason to smile after Ivory Bank opened a branch in Kuajok.

During the launch, the Warrap State governor, who was officiating the opening ceremony welcomed the bank to the area and asked the bank to offer employment opportunities to the locals as that is one of the benefits of having such institutions in an area.

“The bank creates opportunities, one of the opportunities is service delivery and service delivery comes with job opportunities. ” Warrap state governor, Bona Panek Biar.

“I know the bank will take the qualified people from here, they will not bring people from outside. This is the benefit of such an institution opened in Warrap state.” Biar added.

The Bank General Manager Buruna Siricio said that it will offer financial services and opportunities to its clients.

“We are delighted today as Ivory Bank to have Kuajok Branch opened by Honorable Governor Bona Panek Biar. Ivory Bank is one of the leading banking institutions in South Sudan.” Buruna said.

“Ivory offers a variety of financial services and opportunities to its clients. Today you are the first clients, you have registered and have your cheque books, so more we hope will follow,” said the Ivory Bank Manager during the launch.

A bank official at Ivory bank said that the bank will channel its efforts to the facilitation of investment in the country’s productive sectors to stimulate sustainable economic growth and development.

He went on to say that the bank will encourage those investments through loans to small groups but not individuals.

“The bank will not lend directly to individuals promoters of business, individuals will, however, be able to get small loans, small loans especially for women and youth because this is the sector we want to encourage to be involved in the business,” the bank official said.

The bank manager emphasized on the need for the Warrap State government to cooperate and support for its survival so that it can continue serving the residents of Warrap.

Kuajok has been lacking banking services since the closure of the Kenya Commercial Bank in 2017 following an economic crisis caused by the conflict.
