White House Scandal, did the US Secretary of Defense Abandon Donald Trump?

Nov 10, 2020(Nyamilepedia) — The United States President Donald Trump, who is currently in trouble, fired his Secretary of Defense yesterday, Monday November 9th, after having a bad weekend over the election results, however, as more reports come to light, it appears that the Secretary of Defense and others might have abandoned the president at a time he needed them the most.

Firing through his Twitter Handle, President Trump announced the appointment of a new Secretary of Defense without giving any justification over his decision to replace the Secretary of Defense.

The outgoing Secretary of Defense, Mark Esper, was replaced by Christopher Miller, the current head of the National Counterterrorism Center.

“I am pleased to announce that Christopher C. Miller, the highly respected Director of the National Counterterrorism Center (unanimously confirmed by the Senate), will be Acting Secretary of Defense, effective immediately.. …Chris will do a GREAT job! Mark Esper has been terminated. I would like to thank him for his service,” Trump tweeted.

According to the U.S. media mainstreams, Esper was unofficially informed by the Chief of Staff  that he was about to be fired by Meadows shortly before Trump tweeted the decree.

On a different note, a resignation letter appeared at almost the same time on Monday leaving doubts on whether there was a conspiracy from within the Defense Secretary or not.

“I step aside knowing there is much we achieved at the Defense Department over the last eighteen months to protect the nation and improve the readiness, capabilities, and professionalism of the joint force, while fundamentally transforming and preparing the military for the future,” Esper said in his resignation letter.

In response Nancy Pelosi, the House Speaker, called out the president for firing Mark Esper in a statement that was released shortly after, saying that the abrupt firing of the Secretary of Defense is disturbing.

“The abrupt firing of Secretary Esper is disturbing evidence that President Trump is intent on using his final days in office to sow chaos in our American Democracy and around the world,” she said.

As many politicians are concerned of rough days ahead as President Trump may exhaust his last executive powers, Nancy cautions that continuity and stability are very important during the presidential transition – a call president Trump may care less about.

“Continuity and stability are always important during a presidential transition; they are absolutely imperative at this moment, as this historically erratic Administration prepares for its departure,” she added.

Nancy added that the firing was an act of retribution by the President, allegedly for Secretary Esper’s refusal to send active-duty military troops to crack down on peaceful demonstrations against police brutality.

“Most disturbingly, however, the timing of this dismissal raises serious questions about Trump’s planned actions for the final days of his Administration,” her statement continued.

She accused Trump of being reckless and endangering US national security.

Mark had a public fall-out with Trump over the White House’s attitude to the military during protests over racial injustice earlier this year.

In solidarity with Mark’s resignation, other Defense Secretary officials including the Acting Under Secretary of Defense for Policy Dr. James Anderson and Under Secretary of Defense for Intelligence and Security Mr. Joseph Kernan resigned.

As the U.S. election scandal continues, more officials could be fired or voluntarily resign as Trump’s terms comes to bitter ending.

The U.S President did not expect losing to the President-elect Joe Biden, whom he ridiculed during the election.

Trump made jokes about how his life would be if he loses to “sleepy Joe” saying he would rather leave the country and people may never see him again; however, such jokes could be what are now haunting the White House.
