Kenyan police seized drugs claim to be from South Sudan at JKIA

Oct 28, 2020(Nyamilepedia) — The Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA) officials together with multiagency team on Wednesday claimed that they had seized heroin being smuggled from South Sudan at the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport.

According to KRA officers, the heroin was on transit from Juba, South Sudan, to Cambodia.

The illegal drugs were detected by the non-intrusive scanners at the airport. Upon opening the Consignment, the officals confirmed it was ndeed drugs that were concealed.

“KRA Customs officers jointly with other officers from the multiagency team at JKIA opened the consignments for 100 percent verification after the scanner showed some concealments,” KRA stated.

On a separate occasion, the officers seized bhang was from Kasese in Uganda and destined for France.

The drugs were wrapped in in dresses and black polythene papers.

“Heroin was concealed in the buttons of dresses in the consignment, while the bhang was wrapped in a black polythene paper concealed in an inner pocket of a kitenge cloth,” the taxman said.

The authority said that they have already placed the drugs in the custody of the anti-narcotics unit.

The officials did not state when the drugs were found, only saying that it was recently.
