According to Col. Lam Paul Gabriel, the spokesperson for the Ministry of Defense and the Deputy Spokesperson of the SPLA-IO, Hon. Teny visited Kajo-Keji, Morta Unified Training Centre and Panyume SPLA-IO bases.

“the Defence Minister, Hon. Angelina Jany Teny visited the SSPDF base in Kajo Keji, Morta Unified Training Centre and SPLA-IO base in Panyume.” Said Col. Lam Paul Gabriel.

“The purpose of the visit was to calm the situation in Kajo Keji County that claimed about 30 human lives and displaced civilians to neighbouring Uganda.” Lam continued.

Briefing the forces in the area, Hon. Teny condemned the incident saying that the leadership of South Sudan is not ready to go back to war

“The Hon. Minister condemned the clashes that erupted in Kajo Keji and said that the political leaderships of South Sudan are not ready to go back to war.” Lam continued.

Hon. Teny commended the Joint Defense Board for forming a committee to investigate the incidents and bring those responsible to account.

The fighting in Kajo-Keji is attributed to a former officer of the SPLA-IO, Maj. Gen. Moses Lokujo Gabriel, who switched allegiance to Salva Kiir and started fighting the forces who are still loyal to Riek Machar.

Moses’ action has been condemned by both sides and also by the RJMEC, TROIKA and other independent organizations.
