According to the office of the president, the Chief Administrator of Pibor Administrative Area, Joshua Konyi, advised President Kiir on security and general situation in Greater Pibor Administrative Area.

“Joshua Konyi informed President Salva Kiir that the general situation of Greater Pibor Administrative area is relatively calm and stable” Read part of the Presidential Press release extened to Nyamilepedia.

The Chief Administrator of GPAA further added that he appealed to President Salva Kiir for the dire need of humanitarian support for the people of Greater Pibor.

During the meeting, Kiir pledged to render his continous humanitarian support to the people of the Greater Pibor Administrative Area.

For the past six years, President Salva Kiir has accorded humble gesture toward the people of Greater Pibor Administrative Area.

The new good relationship between J-One and Pibor came after a brutal war that almost wiped out this part of what used to be Jonglei State.

Since Kiir signed a peace agreement with David Yauyau in May 2014, President Kiir has appointed many officials including a Special Envoy to help the people of the Greater Pibor Administrative Area; however, this has not reduced the inter-communal violence between Pibor and other parts of Jonglei State.

Pibor and other two oil-rich administrative areas of Abyei and Ruweng are set to be governed through the office of the president until further notice, a ruling that violetes the revitalized peace agreement.
