Speaking during a handover ceremony today in Juba, South SUdan, the new commissioner general, Africano Mande, has reiterated his eagle eyes when it comes to performing a public duty.

“On the day I was appointed the deputy commissioner general and acting chairman of the National Revenue Authority, I went and looked for the revenue Act of 201,” The Commissioner General said in a statement that will soon be verified.

Mande acknowledged that his new office is not a political office and therefore it must be served with a high integrity.

“And one of the things I noted about it is that, this is not a political office. Therefore, I am going to be a disciplined civil servant.” Mande said.

The office he is taking over, according to his boss, has been handled like a personal property in the past.

Kiir believes that all his former officials in Mande’s current position took the office and the money collected as personal business.

The outgoing officials have acknowledged that the economy was collapsing and there was nothing they could have done to change the ordeal; however, with the new faces, it remains to be seen if anything will change.

The CG, Africano Mande, has been a good friend to President Kiir. Within the last few years he has been promoted to high ranks in the army and was recently appointed as a governor of Maridi State during Salva Kiir’s 32 states that are now disolved.

Mande holds Bachelor of Arts degree in International Relations from the United States International University – Africa and a Master’s Degree in National Security Studies from the Naval Postgraduate School, Monterey, California.
