The court barred the first time governor from accessing his county office.

He was also asked to deposit his passport to the court.

His co-accused were also set to be released on a cash bail of 1.2 million as well as denied access to their offices.

The court cautioned the five accused from interfering with the witnesses in the case.

The prosecutor, assistant director of public prosecution Alexander Muteti had asked the court for stringent bail terms which will include barring them from accessing county offices.

Hon Ali Korane and his co-accused were accused of eight criminal counts including conspiring to commit an offence of economic crime, willfully failing to comply with laws related to management of funds and misappropriation of public funds.

The funds in question were money from the world bank that was meant to improve Garissa township under Kenya urban support program (KUSP).

Investigators to the case said that the money was wired from the national treasury to the Garissa county accounts.

The money was later transferred to the Garissa Municipal board account and then to individuals account.

The case was heard by Chief Magistrate Douglas Ogoti and will be mentioned on 23rd October 2020.
