August 23, 2020(Nyamilepedia) — A retired police Major General was killed this evening at South Sudan’s Sherikat suburbs where fatal shooting happened in June.

Unlike the previous incidents that happened here, a soldier who was later identified as Apukic opened fire on a retired Major General few minutes to 7PM today.

“The Maj. General was playing table game under a tree within the base when the soldier shot him. The General died on the spot.” Said one eyewitness.

“The whole barrack is deserted as the armed soldier mans the base. No response from the government at the moment.” He continued

The deceased was identified as Maj. Gen. Bior Ajoh Bior who served as Deputy Director for Administration at the South Sudan National Police Services.

While it is not clear whether the assailant is a member of SSPDF or a member of South Sudan National Security Service, the deceased was from the Dinka-Bor [Alian, Jalle] of Jonglei State leaving doubts whether this incident has connections with the shooting that happened here on June 2, 2020.

“From my observation, the soldier dressed in a civilian attire is sober as he wasn’t shooting randomly, he could have shot at us but instead tried to intercept an approaching taxi and shouted at us to leave the scene. At first I didn’t know he was the one until I saw him holding his gun.” The eyewitness said.

Following the shooting the national security service arrived on scene and the shooter was reportedly arrested.

According to eyewitnesses in Sherikat the National Security Service are reported to have searched houses in Sherikat for guns and there were fear that more disarmament could resume in the morning.

The motives of the killing are not clear at the time of this writing but Sherikat has been on the news for the past incidents that are still being investigated by a special committee.

The family of Lual Marine are pressing charges against individuals they have accused of killing their son.
