Machar, Igga discuss economic reforms

August 8, 2020 (Nyamilepedia) – South Sudan’s First Vice President Dr. Riek Machar Teny, and Vice President James Wani Igga have discussed ways to stabilize and introduce economic reforms in the world’s youngest country.

Speaking following the meeting which took place at Machar’s office, the minister of agriculture and food security Josephine Lagu said the meeting discussed the alarming increase in food insecurity in the country and how to resolve it.

“The country is facing food insecurity and therefore the main objective of the ministry of agriculture is to ensure that in the next few years there will be sufficient food for domestic consummation and if possible for export,” Lagu said.

The meeting was also attended by the ministers of finance, petroleum and other senior government officials who are part of the economic cluster.
