August 5, 2020(Nyamilepedia) — Speaking to Nyamilepedia from his home village of Kuachdeng of Ayod county, Gok Diu, a descendant of Dual Diu who was one of the most prominent Nuer prophets in the early 20th century, calls for unity, peace and harmony in Jonglei State.

Tut Joak, who is nicknamed as Gok Diu or the Prophet of Diu after his grandfather, has recently blessed youth known as the white army here in Kuachdeng before they headed southward in what they dubbed as “a peace mission” but in actual sense was a revenge over recent Murle attacks in various parts of Jonglei state.

According to this local prophet and the Chiefs here, the neighboring Murle from the Greater Pibor Administrative Area(GPAA) should be blamed for all the atrocities, kidnapping of children, raiding of cattle and destruction of lives and property in Jonglei state;

Gok Diu calls on the neighboring communities, especially Lou-nuer, Duk and Twice-East Counties to unite and defend themselves against any aggression.

Speaking to media, one of the Chiefs of Kuachdeng, John Tut Chuol, said

“The local leaders and specifically Chiefs of Jonglei State are the primary custodians of peace and stability in Jonglei State and therefore they should be given upper hand in resolving inter-tribal feuds to bring peace and harmony” John Tut said.

Chief Tut also emphasized that the local authorities should be consulted over major decisions such as disarmament because they are fully aware of when and why the youth should be disarmed.

“We, the local leaders or Chiefs should be consulted and from there we shall meet with our people to disseminate the message but we cannot allow them to be disarmed” he said.

“Those who are taking our children and raiding our cattles [Murle], are taking children that we have raised for over 15 years and have wasted all your wealths and efforts, someone cannot just come and take them away. Therefore we cannot accept disarmament now”  The Chief continued.

The prophet of Diu, Tut Joak, and his local administration were speaking to the leadership of the Gawaar Global Community in Canada, Australia, United States and Europe under the leadership of Deng Elijah Hon.

Diu also spoke of his recent meeting with Jonglei Peace initiative delegation under the leadership of James Wani Igga.
