August 1, 2020 (Nyamilepedia) – South Sudan President Salva Kiir’s press secretary Ateny Wek Ateny has refuted claims that political detainees at the national security headquarters – also known as Blue House – are subjected to rape and other inhumane acts.

The revelation was made by South Sudan economist and former National Security Service (NSS) detainee, Peter Biar Ajak, who was detained for two years on July 28, 2018.

“It is not true that people are sodomised at the National Security, the Blue House in Juba…..if the allegations are correct, then I will only confirm them on the day the sodomised person speaks up, got impregnated or gave birth to a child,” Ateny said.

The presidential aide said there were no proves that detainees were being raped and said he would confirm unless Biar himself testify about himself being subjected to rape at the facility.

“This issue of sodomisation in the (blue house) would only make sense if Biar Ajak was the one to testify that he was the one abused because he is a professor. Sodomisation of a professor by another man could be the only concern, but he should not reference non-existing names…I Ateny Wek can only talk well about what happened to me not others. All these are lies created to tarnish the image of the Government of South Sudan from the international Community,” he said.

Ateny also denied that Kerbino Wol was raped saying: “Have you ever met Kerbino Wol? Kerbino Wol was a bodybuilder, and he can break your neck.”
