Chinese ambassador meets IGAD special envoy for South Sudan

August 1, 2020 (Nyamilepedia) – The Chinese ambassador to South Sudan, Hau Ning, met on Thursday the Intergovernmental Authority on Development (IGAD) Special Envoy for South Sudan, Ismail Wais, and discussed the implementation of the revitalized peace agreement, according to the Chinese ministry of foreign affairs.

“Special Envoy Wais briefed Amb. Hua the implementation status of the revitalized peace agreement of South Sudan

and the challenges ahead, commended the Chinese government’s vigorous support and active participation in the South Sudan peace process,” the statement by the Chinese foreign ministry partly read.,

“He hoped that China will continue to provide valuable support to relevant IGAD institutions and jointly promote the comprehensive implementation of the South Sudan peace agreement.

“Ambassador Hua appreciated the work done by IGAD and Amb. Wais in promoting the peace process in South Sudan, and urged relevant parties of South Sudan to overcome difficulties and accelerate the implementation of the revitalized agreement.

“Ambassador Hua introduced China’s measures to support South Sudan’s peace process, carry out humanitarian assistance, and help the country fight COVID-19. He emphasized that China will continue to work with the international community to support South Sudan in achieving peace and stability at an early date.”
