April 22, 2020 (Nyamilepedia) — South Sudan parties are yet to agree on the allocation of state governors and reports on social media are not true, a senior government official said.

Manawa Peter Gatkuoth, the country’s minister of Water and Irrigation said negotiations were underway and that parties have not yet agreed on who take how many states.

“The talks are still underway, the government is saying it want six, others including us want the government takes five as comes in the agreement,” he said.

“So, the reports on social media are not true. We are still negotiating,” he added.

Manawa further said the matter will also be “discussed by the IGAD council of minister which is meeting on Thursday.”

South Sudan parties are in talks over the allocation of state governors.

The revitalized agreement provided for the division of state governors between the parties to the revitalized peace agreement.
