April 17, 2020 (Nyamilepedia) — South Sudan’s Director of Internal Security Bureau at the country’s National Security Service (NSS) Gen. Akol Koor met SPLM-IO defectors on Wednesday night, hours before they declared their intention to defect to President Salva Kiir’s side, a source within the defectors said.

Yesterday, senior members of the SPLM-IO led by former South Sudan Petroleum Minister Dak Duop Bichiok declared their intention to abandon Dr. Riek Machar who is the first vice president to join the Kiir-led SPLM faction.

The defectors accused Machar of turning the group into a family dynasty for appointing “relatives” against the will of the several members of the movement.

Speaking to Nyamilepedia from Juba this morning, the source close to Dak Duop said South Sudan’s security chief Akol Koor, met the former petroleum minister along with two other senior members of the main armed opposition group including former Rubkona county commissioner Thomas Maluit Hoth at the NSS headquarters also know as Blue House.

“Hon. Dak Duop met the National Security director of Internal Security Bureau General Akol Koor,” he said. “Only two people entered the Blue House with him and one of them is Thomas Maluit Both.”

The source said he don’t have any of the information discussed and as such could not give details leading to their declaration to join Kiir.

“I don’t know what was discussed during the meeting. This is because I was not allowed in and also those who attended the meeting are three including Dak Duop,” he said.
