February 10th 2020 (Nyamilepedia) – The regional bloc IGAD which mediated the revitalized peace agreement has warned government officials of hate speech after a senior government official accused the region of “dancing” to the tune of the opposition.

Makuei on Saturday accused the IGAd of bias and vowed that the government will be formed as scheduled “whether IGAD like it or not.”

Speaking to Nyamilepedia this afternoon, a regional source in Addis Ababa said the IGAD has wrote to government delegation led by President Salva Kiir and warned the government officials of hate speech.

“You know recent comments by some government officials here in Addis Ababa were unacceptable to the IGAD and also they are unacceptable to the resolution of the conflict in South Sudan,” the source said.

“On this basis, the IGAD executive secretary Dr. Workneh wrote to the government delegation and made it very clear that such statements which tantamount to hate speech are not acceptable and should not repeat itself,” the source added.

Makuei’s comment came after the regional body decided to endorse the reduction of the number of states from 32 to 23 which is supported by oppositi9on groups such as the SPLM-IO led by Machar.
