January 25th 2020 (Nyamilepedia) – South Sudan’s prominent opposition and SPLM-IO leader Dr. Riek Machar Teny will – on Sunday – return to the Sudanese capital Khartoum where he is based, an opposition spokesman allied to him said.

Machar has been in Juba for the last two weeks meeting Kiir to resolve the outstanding issues crucial for the formation of the reconstituted transitional government.

There were reports this morning that Machar has been asked to stay in Juba until February where the parties which are signatories to the revitalized peace agreement are expected to form a unity government of 36-months.

However, speaking to Nyamilepedia this afternoon, the SPLM-IO director of information and public relations Puok Both Baluang denied the reports that Machar has been asked to stay in Juba saying he will return to Khartoum together with deputy chairman of Sudan’s Sovereignty Council Gen. Mohamed Hamdan Daglo better known as Hemeti.

“That is not true. Comrade Chairman together with [General] Hemeti will return to Khartoum tomorrow,” Baluang said.

He said he was not sure when South African Vice President David Mabuza will return to Juba after reports that he was returning to engage the parties once again on the issue of the number and boundaries of states.

“We’ve not be informed officially about the date of the return of the Deputy Present of South Africa,” he said.
