Lou Nuer Youth in Juba Condemn Murle Attacks on Lou-Nuer Areas in Bieh State

January 25, 2020(Nyamilepedia) — Responding to a series of attack on Lou-Nuer areas that started on January 17th, 2020 and continued to date, a Lou-Nuer Youth forum in the protection sites in the capital, Juba, has issued a statement condemning the attacks and kidnapping of children and women in Bieh State.

According to reports from Bieh States, at least 4 women have been abducted and cattles have been raided in villages that include Buong, Tangnyang and Kew of Bieh State.

“In reference to the above mentioned subject, Lou Nuer IDPs Youths Forum in Juba-PoCs is badly discomforted by the ongoing attack, carried out by Murle youths in Lou Nuer land which targeted the following  locations: Buong, Tangnyang and  Kew, followed by the abduction of four young girls between Pieri and Payay on 18 January 2020.” Read part of the Youth state.

According to the reports, at least five people were killed during an attack on Buong Payam on January 17th, 2020

“The first attack happened on 17th January 2020 inBuong Payam the state’s eastern part and claimed the lives of five young men who were trying to fight in self-defense and to evacuate the children who are now the main targets by the Murle.” The report continued.

“On the following day of 18th January, four girls were also abducted on their way from Pieri to Payay, and up to date not recovered.” Parts of the report reads.

According to local residents, the suspects also raided cattles at Kew and Tangnyang on January 19.

“Subsequently, On 19th January 2020, the same Murle have also stolen some cattle in Kew, located between Wech Deng and Walgak and at the same time, they have also attacked people in Tangnyang village.” The report continued.
