January 5th 2019 (Nyamilepedia) – The Ethiopian government has been warned of harboring South Sudan opposition forces which may allow them to use its soil as a launching pad for attacks.

The Provisional Military and Political Council (PMPC), a faction led by ex-SPLA-IO commander who defected to the government side last year, urged the Ethiopian government to prevent SPLA-IO generals to use the areas for attacks.

I urge the Ethiopian government, especially the Gambella Regional State authorities, Nuer Zone and its five Woredas ( Districts ) to tighten border controls for the safety of their civil population so that they shouldn’t be used as human shields by the SPLM/A-IO commanders,” PMPC spokesman Brig. Gen. Paul Puok Kang, said in a statement quoted by SSNN.

Ethiopian villages should not be used by the SPLM/-IO as launching pads to fight government forces in South Sudan. This is a serious violation of international laws,” he added.

The PMPC spokesperson claimed that they killed and captured Ethiopian citizens allegedly fighting for the SPLA-IO during the recent clashes in Maiwut state.

Their mobilization of Ethiopian citizens to involve in South Sudan’s conflict resulted in the death of one Ethiopian citizen and wounded six individuals,” he said.
