December 21st 2019 (Nyamilepedia) – The Intergovernmental Authority on Development (IGAD) has postponed meeting of the parties to the agreement on the issue of the number and boundaries of states.

Early this month, South African vice president David Mabuza and IGAD special envoy for South Sudan Ismail Wais convened a consultative meeting of the parties in which they discussed the dispute on states.

The parties failed to reach consensus and the mediation decided to give the parties a break to consult their leaders on the issue.

However, in a statement to Nyamilepedia this afternoon, SPLM-IO deputy spokesman Manawa Peter Gatkuoth said the meeting has been postponed for a week by the regional body.

“The meeting has been postponed until next month,” Gatkuoth said. “I think they have few meetings that have to be conducted first between the parties and the principals.”
