December 12th 2019 (Nyamilepedia) – Sudan’s deputy chairperson of Sovereignty Council General Mohamed Hamdan Dagalo has said his country is monitoring the implementation of the revitalized peace agreement in South Sudan.

Daglo, who is better known as Hemeti, travelled to Juba o Tuesday along with SPLM-IO leader Dr. Riek Machar Teny who is now meeting President Salva Kiir over the implementation most contentious parts of the agreement.

“Sudan is monitoring the implementation of the peace agreement here in South Sudan,” Dagalo told journalists in Juba on Wednesday.

“We will make sure that all the provisions provided for in the agreement are implemented before the end of the pre-transitional period.”

South Sudan parties signed a peace agreement last year. The agreement provided for a unity government formation which would govern the country for 36-month transitional period.

The government however couldn’t be form because a number of issues need to be resettled first before the parties could take that action.

These includes the formation of a unified national army, police and national security service. They are also required by the agreement to determine the number and boundaries of states before they could form the government.

Kiir and Machar are meeting in Juba to decide on most contentious issues derailing the formation of what would be the Reconstituted Transitional Government of National Unity (R-TGoNU).
